US firm Abbott Labs has developed a Coronavirus test (ID NOW COVID-19 tests) that can deliver the required result in just 5-minutes. So, it will take only five minutes to find out whether a patient is Coronavirus positive or negative. Food and Drugs Administration department in the US has given this company the go-ahead.
Abbott Laboratories confirmed the development and said that they will start testing Corona patients from next week. In its press statement, the company claimed that it can complete the entire testing process of a Corona patient in 13 minutes means a Corona patient can be given positive or negative certificate within 13 minutes as it would take only 5-minutes for the lab to do the Coronavirus test. The rest of the time is for the formal processing of the Coronavirus test. Abbott Laboratories also said that they are going to increase their manufacturing capacity so that they can test around 50,000 patients in a day.

Speaking on the development Robert Ford, President/COO at Abbott Laboratories said that ID NOW COVID-19 test is the second type of Coronavirus test offered by the company. He said that it would enable Abbott Laboratories to conduct around 50 lakh Coronavirus tests in a month. Quoting Johns Hopkins University's claims, he said that globally 5,91,802 people are infected by Coronavirus while 26,996 have died due to the Coronavirus infection.
According to Johns Hopkins University's claims, The US itself has 1,01,657 Coronavirus infected patients out of which 1,581 Corona patients have died.
Currently, the whole world is busy developing a Coronavirus vaccine, including India. In India, the National Institute of Immunology (NII) has made a team of top ten scientists who has been entrusted to develop Coronavirus Vaccine.
