An official statement quoted Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel as announcing the extended hours. The earlier visiting hours were 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The monuments include
1. Rajarani Temple Complex (Odisha)
2. Dulhadeo Temple and Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh)
3. Sheikh Chilli Tomb (Haryana)
4. Safdarjung Tomb (Delhi)
5. Humayuna Tomb (Delhi)
6. The Group of Monuments at Pattadakal and Gol Gumbaz (Karnataka)
7. Group of Temples, Markanda, Chamursi (Maharashtra)
8. Man Mahal, Vaidhshala (Uttar Pradesh)
9. Rani Ki Vav (Gujarat)
According to the Ministry, the new timings could be extended for some other historical monuments in the country as well.
